SOP for DISPOSAL OPERATION IN BETA LACTUM DEPARTMENT.

 1.0    OBJECTIVE             :   

       To lay down the procedures for disposal of rejected/expired/unusable goods.
 

        2.0   SCOPE:

This procedure is applicable to the dry syrup department for the disposal during the operation in beta lactum department at any pharmaceutical industry 

3.0        RESPONSIBILITY   :                                                                                   

All personnel works at beta lactum department.    
                                                                           

4.0        ACCOUNTABILITY           :

Head of the department             
 

5.0        PROCEDURE:

5.1     Polythene bags: All discarded poly bags are collected in container labeled as ‘used polybags’. These polybags are collected by housekeeping person and are sent to scrap yard.
5.2     Rejected powders: Rejected powder during the compounding, filling sealing and sorting process are destroyed in a bucket of water All in process checked bottles are  during checking process are opened and empty in bucket of water.
5.3     Dust: Dust is collected by vacuum cleaner. Dust collected from vacuum cleaner and machine dust collector is put in polybags and then discarded by putting it in water. Damaged finger bags, bowl cover, sieves and screens are handed over to store on the scrap not after approval by production and safety in-charge. The embossed punches are to be defaced under the supervision of production officer. These materials will then be transferred to scrap yard for disposal.
5.4     Cartons/ labels / empty rejected bottles: All are collected batch wise in a poly bags and properly labeled with batch no. mfg date, exp. Date, quantity etc. and bring to the scrap area.
5.5     LABELS: Discarded label are collected in container labeled ‘USED LABELS’ these are then collected by housekeeping person and are sent to scrap yard along with polybags. Labels of dispensed raw material are teared off and then discarded as above only after the batch is released for packing.
5.6     The rejected in process goods mentioned above will be destroyed under technical personnel by following method:
v  Empty the powder from the dry syrup burn along with others.
v  Rejected/excess packing material will be destroyed by burning under the packing supervisor.
v  The destruction of rejected in process goods and packing material will be recorded in the destruction register.
